Cinerama

Not quite fulldome but pre-iMax and early immersive theatre … some lovely old photographs of the camera and projection hardware.

I have always been a big fan of Cinerama and other widescreen formats. Thanks for posting the link. I can also recommend the Widescreen Museum at: http://www.widescreenmuseum.com/widescreen/lobby.htm
Which has quite a comprehensive history of widescreen formats. One interesting quirk I found out about Cinerama (while I was developing content for the old ICE theatre at Melbourne Museum) is that they could not tilt the camera at all, or the horizon would start to bend!
